Take Your Time
Cue the Obligatory Congratulations!
It’s not too late to pursue what you want to do in life. In fact, at the ripe young age of 32, I’m going back to college!
Now, I’m not telling you this because I want or need the pomp and circumstance of your warm welcomes, I’m saying this to tell you IT’S FINE that you took some time to find yourself. IT’S OKAY if you still don’t know what you need to do. You’re growing and going at your own pace.
Aliens in Your Brain?!
With that out of the way, I wanted to get into the nitty-gritty of complicated emotions. I’m excited to be going back to school to become a better me, but I’m also scared.
Part of me can’t wait to graduate with honors, but another part of me is scared that I’m going to fail at everything. When I let that part into the light, it tries to overtake my brain. *Cue alien probing someone’s brain*
When this happens, it’s okay to feel your emotion, but it’s not fine to let it consume you. Do what you need to: gesticulate, weep, sigh dramatically, or do all three! This is a passing moment: breathe in deeply through your nose, breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Take Your Time
When you’re feeling these heightened emotions, you want time to go by faster. Don’t tell me you don’t… I’m the alien in your brain; I see all.
On a more serious note, take your time. You’re feeling this for a reason. Take your time with this list: Name it, feel it, breathe through it, move on.
When you name what you’re feeling, it’s not as big.
When you feel what you’re feeling, it gets even smaller.
When you breathe through it, you feel at peace.
Now, it’s time to move on.
Let’s Wrap This Up!
