Time goes by so…

FAST!

You thought I was going to write slowly, didn’t you?

To be honest, I wanted to write it, but it wouldn’t be true.

I (quite literally) just finished the non-fiction, true-crime book, If You Tell by Gregg Olsen. Without giving much away, for those women, time went on both simultaneously slow and fast. Trauma, abuse, and heartbreak will warp time.

TIME WARP!

Trauma can cause us to feel what we felt when we were 4 and feel like it’s happening to us at 26. According to Psychology Today, “When we experience complex trauma, our brain may perceive time differently, slowing it down or speeding it up.”

The brain is an enigma.

BUT!

Even when we feel dissociated (a psychological defense mechanism in which we detach from our physical or emotional reality in order to cope with overwhelming feelings or sensations[PT]), therapy can help!

I know, I know… “Dina, I can’t afford therapy.” LET ME TELL YOU that I UNDERSTAND not being able to afford something we need. I mean, HELLO! Indie author here! BUT HEAR ME OUT!

Therapy “can start developing a more coherent narrative of your life, one that includes difficult experiences that were dissociated.” (PT). What that means is you can figure yourself out.

THERAPY IS…

Therapy is helpful to everyone. Even if you don’t think you need it. Even if you feel like therapy is for losers. Even if your ego takes a blow for admitting you need that little bit of help. EVERYONE can benefit from therapy. Shout out to Shayna! Thank you for guiding me through some dark nights.

Let’s Wrap This Up.

Stories have always been my way of navigating through the dark. Building a community where we can all take a collective breath is my next goal.

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but a creative slump in my

early twenties slowed me down. My passion and love for writing reignited at

29, and I haven’t looked back since. Now, I’m deeply immersed in a novella

series and other projects. I am actively supporting aspiring indie authors with

beta-reading, editing, and design services. I am committed to my mission to

make professional editing accessible and affordable. For more information,

children, I love every minute of empowering young minds. I am a mother of two

energetic boys and have been married for eleven years to a hard-working

husband. Faith and family are my guiding lights. I’m a small-town Tennessee

resident who believes in the power of YET, and I hope that readers find

something positive within each story. My work is available on most e-book
